I Need My Mom! Poem by Namita Rani Panda

I Need My Mom!

I wonder when I discover
why everyone has a living angel
whom they call their mom!
But I don't have any
to whom I'll call my mom?
I lament
when I see the loving angel
cuddling and kissing her cherub.
Like my calf
I wish to be caressed
but I don't have a mom.
I anguish
when I notice a suckling
blissfully suckling
the tender angel's breast.
I lick my dry lips
as a dreary desert
with a longing for a cool rain.
I badly need my mom.
Every night I toss and turn.
However cushy may be my couch,
since long I have never slept.
I long for warmth
as my puppy.
I desperately need the lap of my mom.
When I am sick
I groan and whimper
but no one is there
to take my care.
So I intensely need my mom.
When I glance at the loving angel
caring and combing
her dearest darling
with my unkempt hair
and dirty look,
I feel terribly jealous.
How can I match her nursling?
I seriously need my mom.
Coming back from school
I hope for a hug
and mom's hand's food
but I find an empty home
with no one there to welcome.
So I no more love my home.
I desperately need my mom.
I search her everywherein
the garden, among flowers
in the air, in every corner.
Have you seen my mom?
Please tell me the address of my mom.

People say, O' my God!
You have stolen my mom
as you also need a mom.
Have you really taken my mom?
You please take all my toys
and all my dolls
but give me back my angel
as she is my priceless gem.
O' my God! Give me back my mom.
I can't live without my mom.
