I Never Poem by Kay Davies

I Never

I am not wise beyond my years,
I do not laugh in the face of danger,
I do not play with fire, I do fear being burned.

I never imagined my destruction,
I never pondered your death.
Never thought of you gone, like my life with no breath.

I couldn't imagine what would become of me,
I wouldn't let myself ever think of such treacherous thought,
I shouldn't think of it now, but now it's a must.

I never thought of walking alone,
Always hoping you'll answer your phone.
Always wishing youll walk through the door, while trying to pick myself off the floor.

I never thought I could cry so much,
Never thought I could crave a touch,
Never dreamed I wouldn't hear you voice,

But now it has come,
Your time was done,
Im here praying mine too will soon be up.
