I Never Said To You I Was A Poet Poem by Francis Duggan

I Never Said To You I Was A Poet

Rating: 5.0

I never said to you I was a poet
Or even one of minor literary note
And the stuff I pen I could not hope to sell
The literary purists call it doggerel
Few living masters of the wordsmith trade
And 'tis said that poets are born and they cannot be made
That success comes to the worthy seems so true
And from life we only receive what we are due,
I never said with words I had a way
I just pen a few more jingles every day
Still penning stuff three decades past my prime
I am a fellow addicted to rhyme
My better days in life may be long gone
But till my end I will keep penning on.
