I Once Knew Of A Place Poem by Nesreen Kamel MNSR

I Once Knew Of A Place

I once knew of a place.
A place so dark, it seems.
A place that can devour me,
when misery is at extremes.

I once knew of place,
that has not a ray of light.
A place where all your screams,
are engulfed in the serenity of the night.

I once knew of a place,
so wet and soaked with tears.
A place where there is no hope,
no love, no life. no ease.

I once knew of a place,
so full of hatred and blame.
so suffocating, so infuriating,
so full of rage and disdain.

I once knew of a place,
where you cry but remain unheard,
As a lump forms in your throat,
and your vision becomes blurred.

I once knew of a place.
A place where I couldn't breathe.
A place with air so thick with dust,
that buries you underneath.

I once knew of a place.
A place as cold as ice.
A place where true happiness,
only comes with a huge price.

The sacrifice of a loved one.
The sacrifice of a soul.
A sacrifice for you to shoulder,
All on your own.

I recall being here before,
Though it was a few years back.
I recall thinking then,
that to here I'll never come back.

But hours ticked and years passed,
and time has proven me wrong,
as I saw history repeat itself,
as I realised I'm not so strong.

But here I am at last,
and I can finally stand up.
I can breathe some fresh air,
to replace the dust bottled up.

But today I realised,
I will be back once more.
I wonder, next time,
what will I be here for?

An insightful depiction of depression as state of gnashing of teeth, and the loss of sunshine in a deplorable life at its lowest ebb. Thanks for sharing.
