I Prey For Our Planet To Be Peopled, By Purple People. Poem by Elizabeth Haslam

I Prey For Our Planet To Be Peopled, By Purple People.

I prey for our planet to be peopled, by purple people.
Colour all the same, the young and strong and feeble;
The black white and green.
How amazing that would be.

Each one in a coat of armour,
Protection against evil, they will uphold the law,
Waving a sword of valour,
They would cut the bonds of penury and poverty,
How amazing that would be.

Cutting the cake of plenty,
Distributing nourishment to the hungry
Protecting the children the sick and needy
Slicing away prejudice and puerile proclamations,
How amazing that would be.

I prey for a planet with no borders,
Where purple people can roam to no orders.
They are free to speak and say what they will,
Unafraid to do God's will;
How amazing that would be.

I prey for a planet where compassion can flourish.
The proceeds of cruelty, never served up on a dish.
Man will never prosper, from another's misfortune,
Then all purple people can dance, to the happiest tune.
How amazing that would be.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was inspired by David Symonds first DJ for the BBC and a dear friend whose dream has always been that the world be peopled by purple people and I too aspire for that dream.
