I Sailed The Ocean Poem by Randy McClave

I Sailed The Ocean

As I sailed upon the ocean,
Deciding if I should settle down
In love I want to drown,
That was my final thought and emotion.

Around the world I have sailed,
As I searched for myself a mate
Honestly and loyalty was my bait,
Those wants and needs I deeply inhaled.

I want my lungs filled with lust
While I am reaching and gasping for life
I want a wife
As I feel the wind's gust.

There I saw her at the Marina's port,
While on my barge on that day it docked
My heart was beating fast my eyes locked,
She, would be my final loving cohort.

I then took her by her soft sweet hand,
To each other we swore everlasting love
That vow heard only by God above,
As we stood upon sacred dry land.

Having her as mine I began to gloat,
Finding the woman who someday would be my spouse
We would share the same life and house,
Then I saw her boarding another boat.

She had sailed the ocean many times before,
Every man told me about her lips
She was the mistress of many ships,
She was a siren and a temptress I again swore.

So, now as I think and ponder to myself,
As I look out upon the mighty unforgiving sea
She was never meant for me,
But, she was meant for everyone else.
