I Saw The Fire In His Blue Eyes Poem by Kayla Daley

Between us was a huge ball of heat
Halfway where my body had decided itself to seat
It was dark except for the red, yellow, blue, and white
Coming from the fire - our light
I saw the fire in his blue eyes
It was more than that! I saw love- the strongest of desires
His blue eyes melted before me
And this was because of me and for me!
I wonder if I had not looked away would we have done that all night
And yet I did because it scared me - that sight
I had never felt so alive
so terrified
to love another person so much and not be able to do anything about it
Because that's all we were -was friends
Because that's all we are -is best friends
I do not think it will change
No matter how much we age
I love him - yes my heart is tough
But sometimes even that is just not enough
But I know God is
Can't he see this?
