I Slid Into Home Plate Poem by Gary James Smith

I Slid Into Home Plate

I Slid Into Home Plate

I slid into home plate
And won the game of life
Sin was stacked against me
Caused me a lot of strife
It thought the game was over
Death was to be my doom
But I put my faith in Jesus Christ
God gave me a homerun!

You gotta get into the Bible
To get into the game
See what condemnation
Is placed upon your name
The devil's team is against you
Because of all your sinning
Finally you're up to bat
The bottom of the ninth inning

Eternal life is at stake
Don't be on the losing team
Take the Saviour at His Word
You'll find Him a Friend esteemed
Watch out for old Satan's pitches
He'll throw you a curve each time
The next fast ball coming at you
Hit it on down the line!

I slid into home plate
And won the game of life
Sin was stacked against me
Caused me a lot of strife
It thought the game was over
Death was to be my doom
But I put my faith in Jesus Christ
God gave me a homerun!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
