I Sold Myself: The Cost Of Tranquility Poem by Ayomiposi Alajogun

I Sold Myself: The Cost Of Tranquility

I sold myself
I sold myself for a moment of peace
Searching for a path of ease
But the weight of my conscience never did cease
Not a single moment of relief

I traded my values for a fleeting release
A temporary escape from my inner demons
But the cost was my self-worth and my own peace
And the trade-off was not worth the scheme

I sold my integrity for a bit of tranquility
But the price was too high, a steep fee
For the emptiness I felt was reality
And the truth of my actions was clear to see

I sold myself to the highest bidder
But the price was never right
For I am worth more than what I deliver
But I sold myself cheap, without a fight

Priced like I'm worth nothing
yes I sold myself cheap
But I will not make the same mistake again
For my worth is beyond any price to keep.
