I Stopped Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Stopped

I stopped

Long ago read or heard
A poem; Soviet
Very nice, delicate.

Underneath the surface
In some road of asphalt
A crack was somewhere.

A hidden husk fond time
Had been wet for long time
Broke sheath and came out
Sprout in the sun
Hope of life.

Came along repairmen
Bulldozers and rollers
Poured heated bitumen
Killed the un-flourished.

That was the metaphor
Of efforts and the fights…

My stop for the bird
Was the same and the worm
Was picked up by the beak.

Saw the bird ambitious
Had fear, was cautious
Went forward to crack
But backed to coming cars…

I stopped regardless of the honk.

Thankful bird found the time
Headed for a crack in the road
Hidden and unseen by
Drivers and the cars but target…

Bird had seen…rest is known.
