I Strayed Too Close To A Shooting Star Poem by Tara Hills

I Strayed Too Close To A Shooting Star

I strayed too close to a shooting star
That rides across the endless night
And ever more my heart is scarred
Against the light of day

For in the endless void of space
I wandered for a while
Amidst the inky blackness
And dreamt my life away

Until at last mine eyes beheld
A comet streaking silver-gold
And as Cupid drawn to Psyche’s grace
My heart did enter in the fray

And lo! my lover as Victorious Nike stood
As distant as the moon and sun
For I strayed too close to a shooting star
And lost my heart til time gives way
