I Surrender To My Heart Poem by Edwina Reizer

I Surrender To My Heart

I gave myself to you
and I wonder why I did?
Could I not look the other way
and let my heart stay hid?

The answer to that question
has vexed me every day.
I think on it with wonder
but my heart will have the final say.

It's stronger than the rest of me
and makes its daily demand.
And I the weaker of the two
let it take command.

It leads me on and promises
that nothing will go wrong.
And foolhardy woman that I am
just follow right along.

into the love that's made me blind
to anything but you.
I follow my heart's demands on me
and pray for another rendezvous.
