I Think I Know You Better Than That Poem by Em Jay Christian

I Think I Know You Better Than That

You say you didn't notice,
That she,
Looks more than just a bit like me.
It's in her hair,
And her eyes,
The shape of her lips,
All very much like mine.
You said you don't see me,
When you lean in to kiss her.
You said you don't remember,
Well,
I think I know you better than that.
Maybe you didn't see me,
The way we'd often planned,
When she walked towards you,
Dressed in white.
Lets pretend you never whispered,
My name by mistake,
While in the throws of passon.
And you would lie to her,
And tell her that you never loved me,
The same way.
And she will believe you,
But,
I think I know you better than that.
But all the same,
I cannot believe the things you say,
I cannot comprehend,
Any situation,
Where a married man,
Could look at me that way.
I know we had our indiscressions,
I know I kissed you,
When I shouldn't have.
But that was before,
Before you put that ring on your finger,
You made a promise,
A legally binding promise.
So how could you say,
That you hope the baby,
Looks a bit like me.
So we can still have our dream.
Damn,
Your really sick.
I thought I knew you better than that.
