As I lay my head to dream
On a pillow soft
I think of you and only you
As I do so oft
I stand before you naked
That you may see
The woman you say you love
The innermost of me
Alas, I am no longer young
Neither am I old
I’m in my splendid prime of life
To cherish, to behold
Life has sculpted who I am
So teaching me thus
That I love you more than life
As I look at us
No longer do I dream of past
Or of future things
My life may end tomorrow
(I’ve seen many springs)
My dreams are now but moments
Just grains of fine sand
Diminishing before me
As I seek your hand
My darling, I come with naught
Save my joyous love
Which you care for tenderly
As do angels above
To hear you say you love me
That I’m your Mandalay
Bodes me to shed a tear
As I dream this day
