I Took My Heart To The Devil Poem by Valerie Dohren

I Took My Heart To The Devil

Rating: 5.0

I took my heart to the devil
And asked him for a price
He looked at it and whimpered
"It isn't very nice."

"This heart is far too squishy
Too soft for me to mould,
It's covered in pink kisses
Too difficult to hold."

He turned it sideways, over,
Then under and above
Looked at it suspiciously
"It harbours too much love."

Then as he close inspected it
He saw that it was kind
"That's not a trait that pleases me
I think that you will find."

"It isn't really suitable
For me to ever use
With far too many tender bits
To deal with as I choose."

He really wasn't happy
For wasting so much time
But given my dilemma
He offered just one dime

I said to him "forget it,
It's worth a whole lot more"
Then grabbed it back to keep it
And walked right out the door.
