I Voted Today Poem by Randy McClave

I voted today
And I voted my way,
I decided my own choice
I heard only my voice.
When I went to the booth
I wasn't followed by a sleuth,
My conscience was there
For which I did care.
I already knew my decision
With pure precision,
I voted without hate or violence
As I voted in silence.
If my vote loses
It's because how the voters chooses,
There's no cheating clerks
It's how democracy works.
No one was looking over my shoulder
I was the lone ballot holder,
No one was whispering in my ear
I knew what I wanted to hear.
If my candidate or amendment does lose
It's because how the people did chose,
I will not argue, fight or have a fit
The voters are the ones who accepted it.
Today I voted for me
And I also voted for my country,
Today, I hope to be remembered and quoted
Today, I patriotically voted.
