Dominic a poem that ticks all the paramount poetry boxes and beautifully so. And again hope is woven securely in. My favourite virtue. Giving me the excuse to quote Andy's mind blowing letter to Red from The Shawshank Redemption and my favourite lines... 'Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies.' Some poems are eternal, this is one of those chosen few.
Yes hope is important Shaun, although, its' meaning tends to be diluted these days. I'm thinking of Obama here, who waxed lyrical about hope, in order to get elected, yet in my eyes did very little of substance during his presidency...the result: the rise of Trump! Sometimes, in more cynical moods, I like to quote Woody Allen: ' I felt a lot better when I give up hope! '
