I Wanted A Poem Greater Than The One I Had



I WANTED A POEM GREATER THAN THE ONE I HAD

I wanted a poem greater than the one I had
I tried again and again to write it-
I could only write the poem I am
It was not all I wanted it to be-
It is here now in these lines
Simple and clear and superficial and me.
