I Wanted To Tell You Poem by Ivan Chizurum Ezeigbo

I Wanted To Tell You

I wanted to tell you you shouldn't let me go
I wanted to tell you I can't stop thinking about you
I wanted you to know how hard I breath when you are there
My heart skips every beat
I wanted to ask you
How could I do without you?
How do you expect me to?
How could you expect me to?
I wanted you to know that you hurt me
Yet, I love you
I wanted you to know that I get angry too
I feel bad when neglected
That I am a human being
And I have a heart
A fragile one too
I wanted you to know just how ill I feel from being kept distant
Except to save you in my grasp,
I keep silent
I wanted to tell you that when you hurt me it hurts most
And it is hard to cure and the feeling is so hard to die
I wanted to tell you that I'm not stupid
Instead, I'm far too much in love with you to think sane
I wanted to tell you I'm not boring
Rather, I try not to exceed the little ranged limits you have given me
I wanted you to know I'm not so mute as you think
Actually, I make sure I give you space when I see you want it
I wanted you to know I'm not ungodly
In fact, I had sincerely prayed everyday for us
I wanted you to know I'm not so straightforward
I just wanted to reveal a fragment of me which I thought you might appreciate if nothing else
I wanted to tell you that I'm not so weak to fight for you or for anything else
It's just that I consider fighting unnecessary to fate
I wanted to tell you that it is not that I overemphasize on issues
But there is so much in you to keep silent on
I wanted to tell you
If I had the chance to
