Wingless Angel Poem by Ivan Chizurum Ezeigbo

Wingless Angel

Rating: 5.0

When I close my eyes
All I see is a planet
Glittering as diamond
Very bright are it's lights
I see myself in the middle of a sign
A sign or an invisible protection chamber, I presume
It's like in the centre of the terrestial body
The bright lights grow dimmer
And dimmer
Until I can barely see
I strain my eyes
And there, few meters away
A being squatted
Clutching his back with both hands
As it growls silently in pain
On the floor, lay two huge wings
And a deadly enormous sharp axe
The being tries to get up but falls
Blood oozes from it's back
The blood encircles me
He stammers
'Majib ark heleg'
I've never heard this language before
But somehow I understood
I think he was saying
'You cut my wings.'
I knew he wasn't talking to me
Nor was he seeing me
Anyway, I made sure I didn't make a sound
Someone or Something must have done that to him
Then I see him no more
But I always recognize him
In all my hallucinations
As
the wingless angel
