I Wanted To Write A Poem That Would Exalt And Uplift
I WANTED TO WRITE A POEM THAT WOULD EXALT AND UPLIFT
I wanted to write a poem that would exalt and uplift
I wanted to give exuberance and delight to others-
But what I can write
Is less than this
And I must fumble in my own small way
My own small truths on the page
And if they are some meaning or consolation or goodness
To another
Say ‘Thank God’ for that.
