I Was Far From The Poems Today Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Was Far From The Poems Today

I didn't see them hear them feel them
I was lost in another world of words-

Now standing here in the cold
After the rain
In the grey sky Jerusalem winter world
Waiting for my wife
To go and celebrate a friend's eightieth birthday-

I notice how lines of beauty
Are formed in thin azure script
Across this page.
