I Went To India Poem by Vera Sidhwa

I Went To India

The Statue of Liberty
]

I went to India,
Land of my birth,
While the airplane swirled,
Over the Statue of Liberty,
Much to my mirth.

You see as a nine year old,
I had swirled over the Statue of Liberty,
To gain entrance to 'America',
Which then became the 'Us.'

Then the plane sped across,
The Atlantic and stopped England.
We were closer to India now,
And headed to it.
