I Wish They Knew Poem by Fatihah Wahid

I Wish They Knew

I WISH THEY KNEW
I wish they knew how it feels,
When you can't sleep at night
thinking how things should have and might have been,
Every single regrets of your life teasing and mocking you in your mind,
Then you curl your body to sleep,
The warm night suddenly feels icy cold.

I wish they knew how it feels,
When you tried your best but your best is everyone's worst,
It makes your breath stuck while you're inhaling,
And everything you swallow bitter,
The energy is all sucked up and all you feel is tired.

I wish they knew how it feels,
When you're in a crowd but all you hear is silence,
It's like you're in a vacuum place with some trespassers,
and your sighs are the only music to your ears,
The busy world suddenly freeze and it feels empty.

I wish they know how it feels,
When your tears are crying to pour,
But you're too tired to let it go,
Then you bottled it up inside,
Hoping that glass bottled won't break,
The young heart turned heavy and cold.

I wish they knew how it feels,
When you want to stay but you're not welcomed,
When you fight for someone but they gave up on you,
Wondering why and what makes things changed?
It's hopeless,
And you decided to turn your bright days into a pitch-black dark.

I wish they knew.

A very touching and deep poem about depression. The ups and downs in our life tend to be not too extreme, but on and off, comes an exception, which is either too high or too deep. When things get really deep, a real Doa can soften things a bit. We tell first our Creator is the most gracious and forgiving. Thinking about this will help us feel His grace and love and that can make such a difference. then we feel his great forgiveness and this will help us to forgive ourselves and all others. We express our thanks and we express again all grace and forgiveness. The most beautiful part is when we ask to see the real path. That is when often the proverbial sun comes peeping through the clouds and we may notice again the amazing beauty of the skies. Sometimes just accepting our feelings may help too. By accepting how we feel, the feelings tend to have more freedom to move on. But if all our efforts do not yield a bit hope and joy, professional help can make wonders too. A very thought provoking poem, Fatihah. Sorry for the long comment, but that is what welled up in heart and mind when I read this excellent poem.
