I Won'T Poem by Jennifer Peckins

I Won'T

Over and over I told myself
I won’t cry, not over someone else
Their stares and words won’t throw me down
Fill me up until I drown
The bathtub won’t be crimson red
No.70 caliber to my head
A noose tied tight around my neck
Don’t let anyone know I’m a nervous wreck
Hide my face; wipe my tears
Close my eyes; hope no one hears
Out of my lungs scream, “God help me”
Just wanna escape; Just wanna be free
Unlock the shackles holding me back
Let me smile at the sound of a gat
Let me jump before a speeding train
Count down the seconds to release my pain
