I WONDER IF IT IS POSSIBLE IN OLD AGE

I wonder if it is possible in old age
To write as I have never written before
To find I really have a music of metaphor
Within me
I wonder if I can after so many years of trying and failing
Suddenly miraculously
Close to the end
Find that voice that will be indisputably real literature
I doubt I will
I do not even know if I will know how to try
But I should at last have the courage
To fail with more than I have ever been able to
