Idealism Dies Hard Poem by Jim Boone

Idealism Dies Hard

All the cherishing
Where did it go?
Now what?

The nobility of
Principles ‘doesn’t
Stand a chance’
But someone must
Champion its cause
And believe that all
Of this political crap
Is not all there is
To democracy.

There’s no purpose in
Most steps anymore
The young no longer
Feel inclined to set goals

‘They say’ and we listen
Without a clue that we
Are ‘they’ and these
‘Looney-tunes’-times
In which we’re surviving
Are nothing but
‘the worst of times.’

Idealism dies hard, but
As long as the seed is
Nurtured in a few minds
It will grow and be the
Light in the eyes of
Future generations
In their best of times.
Contribute. Let it be.
