If I Had Any Pride Poem by Errol Anderson

If I Had Any Pride

I’d let you go if I had any pride.
The emotions felt I cannot hide.
My soul you do tear apart.
Yet I still offer you my heart.
No time left to shed a tear.
Your leaving has already caused me fear.

I’d let you go if I had any pride.
Instead of wanting to be by your side.
The time will come to say goodbye.
‘Till then I’ll try not to cry.
Today’s feelings are but a treat,
Yesterday’s were a pleasure and sweet.

I’d let you go if I had any pride,
Then my emotions you’d no longer ride.
My love you did take for granted,
The rape of my soul is what you wanted.
A job well done, I’m nothing but a shell,
No comparisons, this can only be hell.

I’d let you go if I had any pride.
The pain and hurt will never subside.
A once natural love is now in cage.
No spirit left not even rage.
Torn and shredded my love will not hide,
I’d let you go if I HAD ANY PRIDE! ! ! !

I liked the repetition Errol, but the final lines had me questioning! The love does not hide, but the pain does! Or we would be eaten alive. It is a sad and bad world and we do what we have to do in order to survive! Human nature smiling at you Tai
