If I Should Die Poem by Patti Masterman

If I Should Die

You're far away;
Too far to say
'I miss you more'
Each endless day;
But there's one thing
That makes me sing:
Someday you're mine,
I've found a way.

When I am dead,
When I am toast,
You can bet
I'll be your ghost;
Haunt your bed,
In your head;
In your dreams,
I'll love you most.

I'll be your hack
If you're attacked;
I'll be your eyes,
The ones in back;
I'll catch your foot,
If you should fall-
An angel's care,
You'll never lack.
