If I Were There Poem by Ray Hansell

If I Were There

If I were there I'd spoil you
In so many ways
I'd bring your morning coffee
Along with the newspaper in bed
I would always listen
Remembering all the things you said

I'd pamper you when your sick
I'd lay in bed with you
I would keep you company
Until your illness was through

We'd chase our dreams together
Along a white sandy beach
There wouldn't be a star
That we couldn't reach

Share a glass of wine at dinner
Laugh at a joke or two
Then go home together
Love the whole night through

I'd open every door for you
I'd bring you flowers every day
Every moment shared together
A love beat never far away

Walks together in the rain
Holding hands as we walked along
Knowing that through all kinds of weather
Our love would always remain strong

Understanding each others needs
Doing our best to fulfill them
If by chance we didn't get them right
Then we'd have to start all over again

If I were there I'd spoil you
In every way I can
Then you would know by the things I do
That I would be your loving man
