If I Were To Tell You... Poem by Jim Butler

If I Were To Tell You...

And if I were to tell you
That I hate being near you
It’s a realization
That I’ll never win.
You have your own way
And I have mine
Yet I can’t seem to end
This feeling inside.

But I have to be near you,
Just to see you,
Just to know you’re somewhere
Maybe thinking of me too.

But it kills me to think
That you might care too
Only just to realize
That can not be true.

It’s a secret I’ve been holding,
Bursting, waiting to release,
But I may never get the chance,
What IF I were to tell?

I’ll just have to watch you
Take someone else’s side.
Watch you slip from my hands
See you leave me behind.
And I’ll still love you
More than ever before.

Holy cannoli Jim-Bo! ! ! You are so talented and your poems rhyme too! I can never get mine to rhyme... I really loved this poem :) I think every person in the world has felt this exact same feeling at some point in their life before, but it still sucks anyway.
