If Only We Could Both Retire Young! Poem by Robert Melliard

If Only We Could Both Retire Young!

If only we could both retire young!
'What shall we do today? ' I'd ask,
then watch you looking happy
doing exactly what you choose.

Would that show how much I loved you?
Perhaps. In practice, though
you might say 'Let's go shopping! '
and I'd reply 'Oh no! Not that! Please no! '
