If The Dam Should Erupt Poem by Michael S...

If The Dam Should Erupt

If the dam should erupt
And submerge the countryside
Fear not, it will be with you
Whom all things I confide
And when the golden canvas of morning
Can't dispel the black shroud of night
It will be all your love
That signals the return of light

Just know that if a thousand fiends
Are unleashed in a vicious horde
It is to me whom you may retreat
For you, I'll play a gentle chord
And if the gentle melody
Should not ease your doubts and fears
Please, know that I have the skill
To collect all your bitter tears

If the blind prophet should
Shout brutal taunts all day
I hope you will ignore her call
And refuse to run away
Because I need you here
To remain silently with me
So that none may hear our song
While we sing gloriously

And if you can no longer hear
The beating bass of rhyme
You need not resort to fear
I'll play for you, for all of time
So if your secluded medow
Should fall into scorching flame
You can always look to me
If I am not to blame
