If Tomorrow Comes Without Me Poem by Zotena Moses

If Tomorrow Comes Without Me

If Tomorrow Comes Without Me
If tomorrow comes without me,
Tell my friends…

O messenger of Gagomah,
Ride on the swiftest horse,
Pass through the deepest waters,
Rise beyond the clouds,
And find them.

Tell my friends I remembered them in my quiet moments.
Speak gently to my foes,
For the earth teaches us that all hearts are dust alike.
Go softly to my mother,
Wipe her tears before they fall,
And tell her her prayers did not return empty.

Stand before my father with courage,
And tell him I walked the path written for me.

Tell them—
If tomorrow comes without me,
I have gone where silence speaks,
Where the soul is laid bare before its Maker,
Where truth is no longer hidden in shadows.

Man is a flower,
Blooming for a moment,
Then bowing to the wind of time.

Today he stands in strength,
Tomorrow he returns to the earth.
He rises each morning chasing bread,
Yet forgets the One who gives breath.
He walks in fear,
Not knowing that peace lives in surrender.

Tell my brother,
Hold him close when you speak,
That life is a trust, not a possession.
One day, a tomorrow will come
That will not wait for him.

Hmm…

Today is a gift placed in your hands.
Tomorrow belongs to God alone.
Search within your soul,
Break free from the chains of this fleeting world.

Be grateful while you can,
Be gentle, be kind,
Let your heart remember its Creator.

For a day will come,
Quiet and certain,
When the call will reach you,

And tomorrow…
Will come
Without you.
