In spite of the fact that the unwanted harsh word said by others
With reproach burns you very badly like fire of pyre lit on the heart,
If you can slowly put off that fire with the help of water
Of wisdom, you don't require any other penance to manage!

எள்ளிப் பிறருரைக்கும் இன்னாச்சொல் தன்னெஞ்சில்
கொள்ளிவைத் தாற்போற் கொடிதெனினும் - மெள்ள
அறிவென்னு நீரால் அவித்தொழுக லாற்றின்
பிறிதொன்று* வேண்டா தவம்.81 - அறநெறிச்சாரம்
