Just how much I miss you
The nights I can't sleep

How hard it is on me
Being away
Been away so long now
You don't even know my name

I wanted a little girl

Delaney or Caroline
Something proper like

When you mom was carrying you
I used to write a journal
For you

I guess that's what these
So called 'poems' are these days
Letters I can't send to you
Letters that are heavy on my heart

Words that won't quit
Sounding off in my head
I'm sorry baby
I never meant for it
To be this way

If you only knew
What I wanted it to be like

Your protector and provider
Your teacher and comforter
The person you feel
Most safe with

Also the guy
Who can answer any question you might ask
The man to tuck you in at night
Read you bedtime stories
(Maybe we could write a few of our own)

Lives in a magical world
Where dreams
Like yours and mine come true

With anyone anymore
That's just what the people
Who don't want us together say

To keep us apart
They could never
