Imagine The Pain Poem by Phoenix1 Smith

Imagine The Pain

Imagine when a sweet friend of yours
exulting in detail and with magnified excitement
the enormous happiness she feels while talking
about the man that is still pursuing her up to now.
her former lover that she says has still not moved on
who talks to her everyday professing his true
undying love until this very moment...

Imagine the excruciating pain while listening
to her every word, knowing that it is the
man of your love and life that she refers to
Imagine the unbearable pain....
I need to be silent and composed
she cannot be hurt... only I should bear the
torture and agony while listening to her..

for every word delivers an agonizing sting
and stabbing pain piercing through my heart..
It is like dying over and over again...
I have to be calm and be silent..
I listen and just listen to every story she tells
she cannot be hurt... so I just listen..
and feel this agonizing, piercing, stabbing pain..
