Immigrant Poem by Dorsey Baker

Immigrant

Rating: 5.0

You come
to make your home
in a foreign land
they speak in a tongue
you don't understand

you have faith
you will find
peace of mind
freedom for yourself
and your family
no longer imprisoned
by pain and misery

you are willing to
work hard
to get the things
that you need
to be a good citizen
and your family to feed

you won't be a burden
you will be an asset
you owe
yourself to be your best
and you promise yourself
you will
pay the debt!
