Immortality Poem by Daniel Miltz

Immortality

Why does man in a lifetime have to die
Earth goes on, infinite years in the sky
How long is a man's life suppose to be
That it can honestly be guarantee

Why not man, live a few thousand years spry
Or a million, why does he have to die
Almost the very moment, he is born
In such very short span of years for·lorn

What is it in the scheme of things, to be
A handful of years, then eternity
Underneath the cold, cold ground in a box
Some call that, an endless life par·a·dox

All considered, what are a more years worth
Or a greater amount of years on earth
The world will go, forever and a day
Or is it, face of imag'native play?
