Important Place Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

In laws are definitely occupying important place
They are to be looked after well in any case
You might be facing tension and very good chase
But you have no other option than it to face

I am taken for ride and granted
I am undesired and unwanted
Particularly at home when they are guest
As wife will try to show her best

She will order me to keep everything ready
My gesture and appearance should look steady
No untoward incidence at home and all smoothly running
Else I will face all bombardment and especially gunning

She will leave no stone unturned
Buried al the differences and calm almost returned
Peace is purchased at no cost or absolutely for asking
As she needs all my smiles and backing

I am so much praised by in laws
The relation got strained many times because of flaws
It got improved with wife’s intelligent intervention
I need not go at length and stupidly mention

But I find gradual change when she hears they arrive
I take deep breathe to think and survive
She is almost very important person
I must run after her for every reason

I will take complete care for everything
Nothing should be left unattended for anything
It is question of her pride and honor
So I should do everything that is asked for

How much relief you have?
You were never bold and brave
Mother-in-law is kind animal
What a great joy on her arrival?

Wife attends so regularly
Looks after every needs and keeps you happily
Never fighting resolve and showing all courtesy
All in laws are like that and long to see you happy

I am their only one pet animal
I can’t afford to show it as dismal
I shall excel in all round show
Even if I shall experience it like foot ball throw
