Imprisoned Light Poem by Zachary Wallace

Imprisoned Light

Rating: 5.0

How I long to live my life for God,
to be a light in aworld so dark
Thatbefore I rest beneath the sod,
my life will have left some mark

In my soul is a brilliant burning fire,
and around me such evil and strife
From within comes this eager desire,
that others could see this glowing life

But I know that this earthen vessel,
with its foolishness sin and pride;
This self against which I constantly wrestle,
Is striving Gods light to hide

As with Gideon'slamps of old,
broken vessels He did make.
For the light to shine forth bold,
the clay must be riven for His sake.

So Lord I pray this vessel brake,
may your light be revealed in me
Humble and surrendered for thy sake,
that this light the world might see

Fine and lofty verse written with clarity of thought and mind. A beautiful devotional poem elegantly brought forth in good rhyme scheme with spiritual insight. Thanks for sharing Zachary and do remain enriched.

Welcome to PoemHunter. Yes, soul is just like burning fire because this is self luminous point of light. God's light of mercy falls on us. His light reveals soul's identity of values and power. We offer our prayer to God. He is the great really. This poem is an excellent and deeply philosophical poem....10
