In Agrippaverse

Half-way through 2.2
of Antony and Cleopatra,
when Agrippa apologizes
for the ruminated nature of his talk,
it's Shakespeare doing the talking.

By then he knows
the audience is scratching its head
thinking, 'What isn't ruminated? '
and regretting missed subtleties.

'Get over it, ' he's saying,
'It could have been worse:
I could have written the whole thing
in Agrippa bloody verse.'
