In Alexandra's Eyes Poem by Pamela Ascroft

In Alexandra's Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Sapphires richer than India's Prize;
Facets oceans deep spark crystalline fire.
Windows that reflect compassion
Darken to indigo at injustice,
Topaz shimmer with empathy.

Beyond the veil that protects, that separates
Yet remains diaphanous with truth and honesty
Exist deep violet pools:
Knowledge, Wisdom, Experience, Integrity.

Intense.
Formidable.

At one with all, yet alone;
Fearless yet vulnerable;
Warrior goddess to artless, child-like wonder-
Living on this plane, touching the spirit of the higher.

Such profound beauty within and without-
Soul-deep love

In Alexandra's eyes.

This is different to your Laura poem but equally successful. The images draw me in with their wonder. Yet remains diaphanous with truth and honesty.... a beautiful line. You love colour in your poems, as I do. When I think of both of the poems I've read I think also of a magnificent stained glass window. There is also a fine rhythm and a flow to this poem.
