In An Evil Land Poem by Jay Curster

In An Evil Land

It was a hot day in an evil land
When the devil took me by the hand
He said look and take what you please
But in turn bow down on one knee
I saw America and the cutthroat fools
Then looked at Saudi Arabians oil pools
I winced at Africa and all of the poor
I watched the middle East and seen their war
Then I glanced verily at this girl
She had blonde hair and pretty curls
My knee went down I said I want her
He laughed with flames my eyes they burned
You could be King over all these lands he said
But the beauty of she impels you instead
He granted my wish and the girl became mine
She grew to love me more than this song may ryme
And though I vowed my soul to darkness back when
Her love was warm and bore my foolhearted sin
The Devil came to collect my soul his prize
But my dear had kept me safe from demise
It seems evil has no real power against true love
This being passed down from the angels above
A secret to missing the gates of hell is told
Find true love and save your soul
