In Every Small Town Poem by Francis Duggan

In Every Small Town

There is an individual in every small town
Who feels no desire for material success or even local renown
That most of the community does look on as strange
Yet is planting the seeds of the instigation of change

Never in the local football park on Saturday as part of the noisy crowd
Flag waving in the support of their team and shouting loud
Or never in the local pub on a Friday night
Discussing politics or sport or the weekend's big title fight

Not into current affairs or any form of popular entertainment to most locals a boring person indeed
But on bringing about change only those who are different does sow the seed
Those who talk of Climate Change and the disappearance of wildlife
few to does pay heed
But these are the people the Human World of is in need

In every small town there is only a few
And this is not saying anything that is new
Who on being different to others does instigate change
Though many does look upon them as quite strange.
