In God We Trust Poem by Abhishek Chandra

In God We Trust

There must be a kingdom in heaven,
Where the creator lives,
For he lives not on this planet;
Where the mortals breathe,
For he heeds not to the cries of pain,
Cries of hunger and poverty
Cries of solitude in this crowded abode,
Last of the cries from a new born
Left to fend for existence in the heartless world;
For he sees not the agony of innocence
Agony of the swollen heart for a loved one,
Agony that millions have gone through
With silence and with resent
Seeking answers for their unfortunate fate,
Millions have been pushed at the edge
Countless lost their lives at the hand of a fellow being,
Beings, who believed in you and some who didn't,
But you being the creator, you being the savior,
Only if you had put a thought,
Thought of equality and not of omnipotence,
Thought of treating all races one and the same,
Thoughts, that could have saved many,
Many who trusted in you, waited till their last breath,
Their last supper and their last bread,
They waited for their savior,
Or the thought that he would send,
Thou shall not claim to be the savior,
If my death is in the hand of the merciless,
Fate of millions were decided here,
Not in the heaven, but here on earth,
Still they take your name till the end,
And utter, "In God We Trust".
