The Forgotten Ones Poem by Abhishek Chandra

The Forgotten Ones

In the midst of our busy lives
During the rush of time
From the morning sun
Till the last run
Our lives go on day after day.
From the ride to work
To the stop for a sip
From the morning breakfast
Or a dinner to feast
Our lives go on day after day.
From some celebrity gossip
To some stand-up comic
An evening coffee at Starbucks
Or a chat with old buds
Our lives go on day after day.
While our lives go on
From dusk till the next dawn
Some lives were changed
And some were gone
While our lives go on
Some faced the wrath of nature
Countless unheard, countless lost
Mother Nature has strange ways
Like reprimanding its subjects
At times cruel, at times cold.
To the countless gone
In the shadows of time
From quiver of the earth
To the shiver of the dearth
From the heat of the sun
Or from the wave of the ocean
So while our lives go on
With each morning sun
Or the last run
Let's give a thought
For the forgotten ones.
