In His Keeping Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

In His Keeping

In these dark years of toiling
His presence seemingly absent
When I felt alone and forsaken
When my groaning seem ignored
Mere emotions I could not trust
Nor look to affirm His presence
His promises were my only stay
Thru the years in this wilderness
Every other dependence purged
Only a desire for Him stood bold
And my soul craved His presence
And the comfort of His embrace
But I did not sense His closeness
Nor feel the comfort of His hand
Except the weight of affliction
And the intensity of the anguish
This shadow of death could not
Blot out the truth of His nature
Nor quench my longing for Him
Despite my hurt and reluctance
I know I am here by His decree
Under His keeping and training
Thus I yield to Him my anxieties
His truth, my shield and strength
His nature, my fortress and buckler
For He who cares for the sparrow
Does keep me in His sovereignty
