In Love With My Soul Poem by chris schwartz

In Love With My Soul

Maybe the harsh cold of winter
Finally brought me
To my knees
Maybe just one more drink warmed me
Took me to the place
I hoped to please,
Maybe I realized,
Life without you
Could be so hard.
Fell into my bed,
No worries left
In this world,
They just don't care
Til you're falling apart,
Then they all come crying to save
The One who kept saving you.

Sounds like a cold, hard song
Poured over a glass of ice,
Maybe it means nothing
But the sound of goodbye,
Or maybe it just means
Another chapter,
You need to re-invent.
Maybe it means
The simple sound
Of the two of us.

Morning comes
And the headache sounds
Just a disruption
From the steadfast details
Of your world,
That doesn't collide
With mine.
I gasp and make coffee,
We share, the simple details
Of our lives,
So complex,
So far apart,
Yet, drawn together.
Yeah, we're drawn together.

Sounds like a cold, hard song
Poured over a glass of ice,
Maybe it means nothing
But the sound of goodbye,
Or maybe it just means
Another chapter,
You need to re-invent.
Maybe it means
The simple sound
Of the two of us.
