In Our Heart Still Lives A Forest Poem by RIC BASTASA

In Our Heart Still Lives A Forest

the logic of roads and bridges
on this day of confusion
leads us astray to the forest
of our hearts
and i am telling you again
that despite the sharpness of the mind
its accuracy and strong will
the heart still grows a forest
where wild beasts eat each other
where birds are not to adept at
escaping traps
where forest trees grapple for the
sun where deep within the heaps of
rotten leaves still hide the seeds
of our discomforts
where we still hope that soon there
will be a clearing to all these
where flowers hang themselves
to bloom
where roots struggle for its space
deep down under
to understand once more the meaning
of the vines....
